Our country was founded to seek equality and justice for the American people from the oppression of the British Empire. At the time when the sacred document known as the U.S. Constitution was drafted, the future of those thirteen colonies who took a chance for the sake of justice was very uncertain. The chance they took for the sake of doing whats right is honored by the red and white stripes on Old Glory. But those stripes, flying proudly on the highest summit on earth and the moon, testify not only to the achievements of this great nation, but the principles upon which it was founded.
You may wonder what principles I am talking about-- I am talking about the ideals enshrined in the U.S. constitution which have become the highest law of the land today. Unfortunately, there have been those, including politicians and lawmakers, who do not pay much attention to the ideas behind the constitution. I am speaking of the Bush Administration and its relative blind eye to the laws outlined in the constitution, and similar lawmakers on Capitol Hill who are slaves to special interest groups and lobbyists.
The code set forth by the constitution is one that expresses respect for humanity. Everyone knows that the constitution has no jurisprudence outside of American soil, but are the sometimes grossly unconstitutional humanitarian crimes committed by allies of America our responsibility? It is our duty to try to stop injustice everywhere, even outside of America. Does not the sole superpower of the world have a responsibility to use its influence in a positive way in the world? As the sole superpower, America has a lot of influence, and its about time we use it to create harmony and equality and stop abusing i to bully other countries.
If we don't allow injustice here, in America, we shouldn't allow the promotion of it anywhere else. In the state of Israel alone, the number of humanitarian laws that have been broken is record breaking, and as a close ally of this country, an effort should be made to promote reform. Injustice is happening everyday, all over the world, not only the middle east. Justice is blind and should remain so, if we truly wish to seek justice for all of humanity and not only American citizens. This holds true especially if we care about the principals on which this country was founded and if we really love and care for our country.
"The true patriot is he who speaks out against his country when it is in error, for he does so out of love for his land and what is right" ---Benjamin Franklin

ASA Mobasshir,
I think its really great that you have started a blog to discuss your ideas and ongoing hot-topics. It is needed to have a center where discussion is encouraged.
Just a tip, about the aesthetic side of things (my sisters and I have been writing a blog for several years, but it is private). You may want to fiddle with blogger settings in order to make the space where text appears larger and the text size itself smaller (templates perhaps). maybe i will elaborate later...
